Support Groups for New Dads

Becoming a dad is one of the most rewarding yet challenging things you can do, and we all know it can be hard to reach out and find community.

If you’re in need of connection, here’s a list of groups supporting you as a “dad” to get you started.

1. Brooklyn Stroll Club

Founded by local dad Joe Gonzales, this grassroots group organizes casual meetups for fathers and their babies at McCarren Park and other family-friendly spots.

2. Healthy Start Brooklyn – Fathers' Group

A city-run program offering weekly virtual and in-person fatherhood development sessions.

3. SCO Family of Services – Fathers’ Program

Designed for non-custodial fathers, this program provides parenting classes, anger management workshops, and case management support.

4. Free Sunday Night Virtual Father's Group

Hosted by therapist Ian Sherman, this free weekly Zoom group offers a space for fathers to connect and support each other.
